With 8 June two months away, we would like to provide you with an update on World Oceans Day 2020. To get directly to the point – IT IS ON! And it’s very much focused on digital.
There is an understandable concern with having in-person events as there are many unknowns with Covid-19. While there may be places on the planet that are safe to hold in-person events in June, we ask that you follow local government guidance on gatherings. This year we encourage everyone to help safeguard their community by going digital.
Thanks to you and everyone in the global network, especially zoos, aquariums, and museums who have been growing their involvement with World Oceans Day for years, this unique collaborative event has had a tremendous presence every year – millions of people working together. We can continue that success this year as well. Let’s make it exciting and impactful!
TOGETHER WE CAN – go digital
In the spirit of “Together we can”, coupled with the creativity each one of us has, we would like to know what your digital plans will be. Will it be a live streamed music event, a webinar, an Instagram campaign showcasing the “30×30” petition signing, an online art creation, videos on action … What can you create?
And to add to your creativity, it would be wonderful to focus on this year’s Conservation Action Focus – to protect 30% of the lands and ocean by 2030.
SHOWCASING YOUR EVENT
We help showcase and amplify your digital events through World Oceans Day’s new event registry. A place where the global audience can learn about, and participate in, your digital concepts.
You can also extend the message by utilizing social media. Please use the hashtags #WorldOceansDay and #ProtectOurHome as ways to grow the collective impact.
