Supporting Youth Engagement and Leadership Worldwide
Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but also today! With our 100% collaborative global youth initiative, we are equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and networks to grow the movement for a healthy ocean and a stable climate. We proactively reach out to and engage with a wide range of youth-led and youth-serving organizations to help develop a broad, diverse, active, and united youth constituency for our blue planet.
We support young people to create transformative change by providing environmental literacy and leadership training as well as connections and opportunities to engage with decision makers. Many of our youth leaders have directly shared their stories and messages for stronger conservation policies with national and world leaders and decisionmakers, including at the United Nations General Assembly, global summits and conferences, the U.S. Congress and the White House, with major corporate leaders, the media, and with their peers around our blue planet.
The impetus for launching our youth initiative in 2009 was the result of comprehensive research we undertook across North America and in seven other regions of the world that underscored the importance of engaging younger generations and a wide range of diverse communities in conservation.
The monthly update, Rising Blue Network Newsletter, promotes youth connections and collaboration for conservation. Let us know if you have an event or opportunity for us to include, to help youth to grow the global youth movement for ocean and climate action. See past issues here.
