Reef

Reef

By Scubazoo

Who can help but to be captivated by the beauty of the reef? These unique places are often called “the rainforests of the sea” and it is for good reason: although they are rare, covering only 1% of the world’s surface, reefs are some of the most bio-diverse places on the planet.

This year’s World Ocean Day theme "helping our climate – helping our ocean" puts a spotlight on coral reefs and the threat posed by climate change. World Ocean Day is a time to celebrate and raise awareness about the sea and exploring the world of coral reefs is a great way to begin!

Scubazoo introduces us to the inhabitants of our global reefs. This book makes learning all about reef ecology easy and enjoyable with beautiful photos and insightful text to engage the mind and please the eyes.

The book delves into the ecology of both temperate and tropical oceanic reefs providing the reader a solid introduction to reef ecology and conservation issues facing reefs today. The authors have managed to gracefully unite the realms of art and science in this special volume, balancing real lessons about reef ecosystems with unbelievably beautiful underwater photography helping ignite our imagination as we embark upon an incredible underwater adventure into life on the reef.

After reading this book one can watch the impressive DVD that comes with it showcasing dazzling underwater photography and video. This allows for close study of the enchanting creatures of the reef and of the vivid activity of the reef habitat.

Scubazoo describes this book as an examination of the full spectrum of animal behavior, the intricate interdependent relationships that exist between vast ranges of species and a deep look at the “fragile nature of these underwater worlds”. This book is much more than that: it is a passport into an underwater realm; a collection of some of the most special places on earth.

This is a book to be enjoyed as a beautiful journey through the reef ecosystem.
